While Mac users are waiting for Apple to introduce the first M2 models this year, the company seems to already be working on the next generation: M3 and an iMac Pro could hit the market in 2023.
Apple is expected to launch new Macs with M2 chips in 2022. But apparently Apple is already testing the third generation of the Apple Silicon processor. According to Mark Gurman in Bloomberg newsletter According to Power On, an M3 chip is "already in the works" and is currently being tested. Although Gurman did not provide details about the chip's features, he expects it to hit the market "at the earliest by the end of next year," or late 2023.
An iMac Pro is also said to be in the works
Gurman added that he still believes "an iMac Pro is coming. It just won't be anytime soon." The iMac Pro was a powerful alternative to the iMac. Rumors suggest a re-release of the model with a mini-LED backlit display will be available in 2022. As for the M2 roadmap, Gurman sees an M2 release in a new MacBook Air, entry-level MacBook Pro, and Mac mini. M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are expected for the updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro, as well as a dual M2 Ultra chip for the Mac Pro. (Image: rendersbyian)
