Apple will most likely introduce the iPhone 14 series this fall. Now analyst Jeff Pu has revealed some details about the specifications.
In a newly published analysis by Haitong International Securities, Pu claims that all iPhone 14 models will come with ProMotion displays. ProMotion enables a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz for smoother-looking content when watching videos, playing games or scrolling. Pu had previously stated that the iPhone 14 Pro models would come with more than 8 GB of RAM. However, due to a "supply chain review," he now expects all four iPhone 14 models to come with 6 GB of RAM for cost reasons.
iPhone 14 rumors: Skepticism is once again appropriate
6 GB RAM would be an upgrade for the iPhone 14 standard models, but not for the Pro models, which is not Apples previous policy. Here is a comparison:
- iPhone 13 mini: 4 GB
- iPhone 13: 4 GB
- iPhone 13 Pro: 6 GB
- iPhone 13 Pro Max: 6 GB
- iPhone 14: 6 GB
- iPhone 14 Max: 6 GB
- iPhone 14 Pro: 6 GB
- iPhone 14 Pro Max: 6 GB
In line with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Taiwanese market research firm TrendForce, Pu expects the iPhone 14 Pro models to feature an improved 48-megapixel main camera. He also claims that the iPhone 14 Pro models will launch with 256GB of storage, rather than 128GB. Pu has a less than good track record when it comes to Apple rumors compared to more well-known analysts like Kuo. For this reason, his claims should be viewed with skepticism.
