In 2014, Apple developed the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the first particularly large iPhones to the delight of many fans. However, a fatal problem quickly became apparent with the iPhone 6 Plus – the 5.5″ device was easy to bend.
The issue became known under the name Bentgate. Today, the new iPad Pro 2018 is said to suffer from the same problem. The first reports from various users came about a year ago. MonthNow the number of reports that the new iPad Pro has a slight bend after unpacking has increased significantly. Apple has now spoken out about this.
It's not a bug, it's a feature
According to Apple, a slight bend in the casing may occur as a result of the manufacturing process. This is normal and will not cause any problems. The bend will not worsen over time, so users can use their iPad Pro without any concerns, says Apple.
Despite this statement, there are now numerous reports documenting contrary observations. Apple itself does not consider the bend to be a defect, but is willing to replace it free of charge - as long as there is no other damage. Nevertheless, many fans remain skeptical about the phenomenon. It remains to be seen in which direction the whole thing will develop. We have not been able to detect any abnormalities on our devices so far.
