Anne Lee, an analyst employed by the Japanese financial holding company Nomura, has made a forecast for the upcoming iPhone line-up in 2019.
According to the analyst, nothing will change in the design of the three upcoming iPhones. Both the size and the design will remain the same. In her opinion, Apple will replace the screws inside the iPhones. Innovations are to be expected in the area of augmented reality (AR). A redesign of the iPhones is not planned until 2020. In addition to the new design, Apple will most likely equip the iPhones with the new 5G mobile communications standard and completely rework the AR system.
Falling sales
According to Lee's report, sales in 2019 will continue to suffer due to the consistent designs. According to her estimates, a maximum of 204 million iPhone models can be expected to be sold. That would be around 9 million units less than in 2018.
The analyst predicts a further slump for 2020 - she says that sales will reach a maximum of 200 million units. Due to the fact that Apple no longer wants to give concrete sales figures, we will never know whether Lee will be right. It also remains to be seen whether the analyst's latest forecast will cause the share price to fall further.
