Apple has somewhat surprisingly released iOS 12.5.5 for older iPhone and iPad models. The update is an important security update.
iOS 12.5.5 is available for the iPad Air, iPad mini 2, and iPad mini 3, as well as the 6th generation iPod touch, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. According to Apple, it contains important security-related improvements and is therefore highly recommended. The update overview states:
