Contrary to some rumors ahead of the “California streaming” event, the redesigned Apple Watch Series 7 will not require any new straps but will be compatible with all existing ones.
The Apple Watch Series 7 has not received the expected flat design but will simply have a larger case. Conflicting leaks and rumors before the unveiling suggested that the new Apple Watch models with 41 mm and 45 mm diameter would require new straps. However, Apple has confirmed that all current straps will remain compatible with the Apple Watch Series 7. So explained Jeff Williams:

As with the introduction of the Apple Watch Series 4 with larger cases, the new Apple bracelets are labeled to match the Series 7. There are already a whole range of of new versions with the designation 41 mm or 45 mm. So here is an overview:
- Apple Watch Series 7 with 41 mm: All 38 mm and 40 mm straps are compatible
- Apple Watch Series 7 with 45 mm: All 42 mm and 44 mm straps are compatible
