Apple has adjusted the prices of AppleCare+ plans for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro users, differentiating for the first time between Intel- and M1-powered devices. This means that from now on, AppleCare+ is cheaper for the 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro than for the Intel MacBook Pro in select countries.
While AppleCare+ for the MacBook Air originally cost 249 euros, the cover can now be purchased for 199 euros. This adjustment applies to both Intel and M1-powered MacBook Air models. However, things get more interesting with the MacBook Pro. Apple has now split the 13-inch MacBook Pro into two separate offers. AppleCare+ for the 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro is now available for 279 euros, while the Intel variant can still be covered with AppleCare+ for 299 euros.
AppleCare+: An interesting adjustment
With AppleCare+ for Mac, you get the best service possible - with up to three years of expert technical support and additional hardware protection from Apple. This covers up to two repairs for accidental damage within 12 months, each of which is subject to an additional charge of €99 for damage to the display or casing, or €259 for all other damage. Protection begins on the date of purchase of AppleCare+.
It is interesting to see that Cupertino has reduced the price of AppleCare+. Whether this new trend will continue remains to be seen. Anyone who purchases a new device can book AppleCare+ directly or take out a subscription online up to 60 days after purchase or alternatively via the system settings.
