Last year, it was reported that the Apple Watch Series 7 could receive some sort of redesign. Now, a new rumor suggests that Cupertino could design the next smartwatch with a flat-edged design.
The new rumor comes from leaker Jon Prosser, who cryptically revealed the information in an episode of his Genius Bar podcasts with Sam Kohl. Prosser apparently has more information, and perhaps renderings of the redesign, to be revealed soon. But for now, he did tease that the Apple Watch Series 7 will have a redesign similar to other Apple hardware updates. This apparently means the Apple Watch Series 7 will feature a flat, angular design, similar to the iPhone 12, iPad Pro, and iPad Air. Kohl and Prosser describe the Apple Watch's version of this design as "more subtle" than what we've seen on other products.
Apple Watch Series 7: Speculations are not new
The Genius Bar podcast also hinted that the Apple Watch Series 7 could come in a new green color option for the first time, similar to the green Apple uses on the AirPods Max. Prosser's statement is in fact consistent with a report published in September 2020. As a reminder, at the time, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that a "significant change in form factor design would not come until new Apple Watch models in 2021 at the earliest." In addition, Prosser vaguely hinted at some kind of new magnetic AirTag accessory in the podcast episode, but no further details were given. So the whole thing should certainly remain exciting.
