With the introduction of the second generation of Apple TV 4K, Apple introduced an option for new buyers – an AppleCare+ extended warranty.
The new service was quietly added to Apple's dedicated AppleCare website shortly after the Spring Loaded event. As with other AppleCare+ products, the commitment for Apple TV extends the usual one-year limited warranty and 90 days of technical support to three years from the date of purchase. In addition, customers can report up to two claims within 12 months, with each claim requiring an additional payment of around 15 euros. Priority access to technical support is also included. Apple itself applying the whole thing as follows:
Apple TV available with AppleCare+
With AppleCare+ you get the best possible service for your Apple TV - with up to three years of expert technical support and hardware protection, including up to two repairs for accidental damage within 12 months, each of which incurs an additional fee of €15. The protection begins on the date you purchase AppleCare+. The protection does not apply in the event of theft or if you lose your device.
Before today's expansion of services, Apple TV was limited to the AppleCare variant, which offers two years of coverage but does not include provisions for accidental damage. AppleCare+ for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD costs 29 euros and covers the main unit, Siri Remote and power cable. Customers can purchase the service when purchasing a new device or separately within 60 days via the Apple website or by phone. (Image: Apple)
