Rumors about the Apple Car are now documented almost daily. New details are constantly being mentioned - as was the case today.
According to the local Newspaper DongA plans to announce a major contract with Kia Motors worth about $3.6 billion to Apple to boost Apple's efforts to develop its own car. According to the newspaper, the announcement could be made as early as February 17. Apple apparently wants to produce about 100,000 cars per year starting in 2024. An earlier report has already suggested that Apple wants to sign a contract with Hyundai by March. The local media report was reported today by Bloomberg discoveredIt remains to be seen how close the partnership between Apple and Kia will be in the production of the Apple Car or whether it will be more of a designer-supplier relationship a la Apple and Foxconn's relationship in the iPhone supply chain. The first reports about an Apple Car were documented in 2015. At the time, it was known as Project Titan.
Apple Car: When will Apple introduce the electric car?
Originally, Apple employed thousands of engineers and designers who worked on all sorts of components such as doors, drive trains and steering wheels. Around 2017, however, Apple scaled back its ambitions and focused only on the software for autonomous driving. At times it was claimed that Project Titan had been scrapped completely. But in the years that followed, new details kept emerging that suggested the opposite. However, since the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, reports have increased significantly. While all rumors point to a partnership with Hyundai or Kia, opinions differ as to the time frame. While some sources claim that it could start as early as 2024/2025, others believe that the Apple Car will not appear before 2027/2028. So the topic will certainly be with us for a very long time.
