Minsk, Belarus - December 04 2020: a closed brand new Space Gray MacBook Air 2019 on the white table. The laptop designed by Apple in California, assembled in China

We have read rumors about new Mac devices several times in the last few weeks and months. Now a new report has been published that revolves around a new MacBook Air.

According to a new Bloomberg report, Apple is working on a “thinner and lighter” version of the MacBook Air, which the company will unveil in the second half of this year or in 2022 at the earliest. is called it in the report:

It will include Apple's MagSafe charging technology and a new generation of the company's own Mac processors. Apple has discussed making the laptop smaller by reducing the bezel around the screen, which will remain 13-inches. The current model weighs 2.8 pounds and is just over half an inch thick at its thickest point.

The company considered building a larger version of the MacBook Air with a 15-inch screen. But Apple will not make this change in the next generation.

MacBook Air: MagSafe charging technology returns

According to the report, the new 13-inch model will also get a pair of USB 4 ports. The current MacBook Air, which was upgraded with Apple Silicon in November, is expected to remain in the lineup as an entry-level model. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously stated that Apple will introduce a new MacBook Air sometime in 2022, suggesting there will be no refresh in 2021. According to Kuo, the MacBook Air in 2022 will feature a mini-LED display, a prediction also supported by DigiTimes. Apple reinvented "MagSafe" with the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models introduced in October 2020. After the charging technology was completely removed from the Mac line, it is now set to return. However, the USB-C ports used will continue to be installed - just without charging functionality. (Photo by tyukin.photo / Bigstockphoto)
