Apple's "Employee Giving Program" is celebrating its biggest year yet in 2020. The company has now announced this in a press release.
Apple is celebrating a “landmark year of giving” for the company today. The iPhone producer writes in a press release:
For every hour an employee volunteers or dollar they donate, Apple matches the amount with a monetary donation to the same organization. Since the program began in 2011, Apple employees have raised nearly $600 million in total donations—including more than 1.6 million hours of volunteer work—for more than 34,000 organizations. This is in addition to donations the Apple Community Investment team makes each year to nonprofits around the world, including Feeding America, FIRST, Malala Fund, Simplon, and many others. Apple also invests in an annual multimillion-dollar grant program designed to support organizations in the communities where Apple teams live and work, including food banks, health and human services, youth arts programs, and more. This holiday season, Apple is donating an additional $5 million to support a range of global organizations helping families and communities around the world weather the storm of the COVID-19 pandemic—from hunger relief to medical care.

The announcement also highlights specific projects the company has supported, such as the British Red Cross's Miles for Refugees event in London, which raised over £2 million, and projects such as the Caritas of Austin project in Texas:
In Austin, Texas, home to Apple's largest campus outside of Cupertino, California, the organization Caritas of Austin works with people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. From March to September 2020, it helped house 30 percent more individuals and families than in the same period the previous year; this help included financial support for many who had lost their jobs because of the pandemic.
