Like every year, Apple equips new iPhones with the latest A chip. For users, low battery consumption is an important point. The A12 chip is designed to take this into account.
Compared to Apple's current A11 Bionic, the A12 chip is said to be more battery-efficient and significantly faster. Apple usually develops the processors itself. These are manufactured by TSMC - a Taiwanese manufacturer. The design of the A12 chip is particularly noteworthy. It is the first time that the 7-nanometer production process has been successfully used.
Faster and more economical
This leads to a smaller distance between the individual components, which means that energy consumption is significantly reduced. On average, Apple's new processor should use up to 40% less battery. It is also 20% faster than the current A11 Bionic. Like its predecessor, it should have six processor cores on board. Two of the cores are responsible for its speed and four for its energy-saving system. Apple will also most likely increase the clock speed.
The new iPhones are expected in September – according to current rumors, Apple will present them on September 12th.
