There have been no serious reports about iOS 15 so far. But now a rumor is circulating that three iPhone models will no longer be supported next year.
Reports about older iPhone devices no longer being supported come out every year. This time a little earlier than expected. The Verifier reports that Apple wants to stop software support for the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone SE (2016) under iOS 15. The platform has been proven right several times in the past – at least with regard to iPhone compatibility with iOS 12, iOS 13 and iOS 14. If this is true again, the following iPhone devices would receive iOS 15 support:
- iPhone series 2021
- iPhone 12
- iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone XR
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone X
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone SE (2nd generation)
- iPod touch (7th generation)
iOS 15 & iPhone Compatibility: The Answer is Available at WWDC 2021
The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus were originally launched in September 2015, followed by the iPhone SE in March 2016. The devices were incredibly popular and received software updates from Apple for over four years. With the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone SE 2020, Apple now sells two modern devices that match the form factor of the iPhone 6S. The second generation iPhone SE is almost identical in design to the iPhone 6S - but more powerful. The iPhone 12 mini, on the other hand, is even physically smaller and offers a faster chip, a larger display and a better camera. So it would be possible, right? We will find out whether the platform will be right again in the end in June at the latest, when Apple hosts the next World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC 2021).
