At the "One more thing" event, Apple introduced the first in-house M1 chip in the Apple Silicon series and unveiled three new Mac devices. But what comes next?
The brand new Apple Silicon processor is called Apple M1 and is set to set new standards. The M1 is the first in-house Mac processor and is designed for systems with low power consumption while offering as much performance as possible. The MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13″ and the new Mac mini will now be equipped with the new processorAccording to Apple, the entire Mac range will be updated over the next two years. But which models could be next? Below we summarize the latest rumors about MacBook Pro 16" & 14" models, a 24" iMac and a smaller Mac Pro.
Apple Silicon: These four Mac devices with M1 chip could be released in 2021
14-inch MacBook Pro: Rumors about Apple Silicon MacBooks in a new design have been documented for months. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Cupertino is developing a 14″ MacBook Pro that will have a MiniLED display. Rumors that Apple wants to equip both the iPad Pro and the Mac series with MiniLEDs in the future are not new. The use of this new display technology offers many advantages that OLEDs also have. However, MiniLEDs are more efficient and allow completely new - flatter - product designs. According to Kuo, the device could be presented at the end of 2021.
16-inch MacBook Pro: In addition to the 14-inch model, Kuo also says that a 16-inch MacBook Pro with a mini-LED screen in a completely new design will be released. This Apple Silicon notebook is also already in development. The presentation could also take place at the end of 2021. However, it cannot be ruled out that both devices will be unveiled towards the end of the second quarter - according to the analyst in an earlier report.

24-inch iMac: There is also something to be expected in the desktop Mac sector. In June, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that Apple will introduce a 24-inch iMac with a completely new design in the late fourth quarter of 2020 or the first quarter of 2021. The device is said to have Face ID and come in a case similar to the iPad Pro. Similar statements have already been made by various leakers.
A new Mac Pro: Earlier this month, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Debby Wu reported that Apple is developing a new Mac Pro that is about half the size of the current model. According to the report, it is unclear whether this Mac will replace the current Mac Pro or range will expand. Further details are currently not known.
