September is over and the iPhone 12 series has not been introduced. Anyone who follows the rumor mill closely will hardly be surprised. But now the time has come - but what else could Apple introduce besides the iPhone 12?
In September, Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 6 and SE as well as the iPad Air 4 and iPad 8. The iPad Air 4 was the highlight among the new products. Apple has completely redesigned the device and caused a lot of excitement. But many fans were looking forward to the iPhone 12. However, leakers claimed well in advance that the new top smartphones would not be released before October. So let's get to Apple's top product.
The iPhone 12 presentation
According to reports, the development of the iPhone 12 series has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, Apple was unable to complete the new models as planned, which is why the launch was also postponed. If various leakers are to be believed, Apple will unveil the iPhone 12 series on October 13th as part of a digital keynote. If this is true, an event announcement should be made in the next few days. But that's not all. Jon Prosser, a newcomer among the leakers, claims to have learned that Apple will be accepting the first pre-orders from October 16th. Whether all four devices will debut remains open for the time being. There are rumors that the iPhone 12 series will be introduced in stages. A statement from Apple also speaks in favor of an October launch. The company has confirmedthat new iPhone models will be released a few weeks later than usual.
iPhone 12 specifications in quick succession
But what new features can we expect? Here is an overview. According to rumors, Apple will present four devices in three different sizes. The iPhone mini (5.4-inch), the iPhone 12 (6.1-inch), the iPhone 12 Pro (6.1-inch) and the iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7-inch) are expected. All four devices will be presented in the iPad Pro design, with the two Pro versions having a stainless steel case while the cheaper models use aluminum. The entire lineup will have 5G connectivity, the A14 chip and an OLED display. In terms of cameras, the cheaper devices will have a dual camera while the Pro versions will have the triple camera including a LiDAR scanner. The use of ProMotion displays is not expected, however.
What other products could Apple introduce?
Now many fans are asking themselves the legitimate question – will Apple unveil more products? No one can give a certain answer to that. However, there are rumors that Apple will finally unveil the AirTags alongside the iPhone 12. The small tracker were first leaked in the summer of 2019. In addition to hints in iOS, dozens of reports have been published that say it will finally be ready this fall. Is that all? Possibly, but not necessarily. Rumors that Apple is working on its own over-ear headphones called AirPods Studio have been with us for a good two years. Now there are statements that the new audio accessories could also be presented as part of the iPhone 12 show. But the reports differ. Some believe it will be launched in 2020, but at the end of the year.
HomePod mini, Apple TV and more
But it goes further. Bloomberg has already indicated several times that Apple is planning a HomePod mini and a new Apple TV device. In addition, the Pursue are working on a less ambitious version of AirPower. It cannot be ruled out that one or more of these products will appear this year - possibly in October. However, there is no exact time frame. Here, too, only the end of 2020 has been announced.
Apple Silicon Macs
For Mac fans, however, the wait could continue. Apple itself confirmed in the summer that it would be introducing two brand new Apple Silicon Mac devices by the end of the year. However, these are not expected until November and not October. There is a leaker who claimed that Apple wants to hold a total of three digital events - in September, October and November. At the moment, everything indicates that the Apple Silicon Macs will not be released until next month. However, this cannot be said with certainty. Anyone who is now wondering whether macOS 11 Big Sur will be released for all users at the same time as new Mac hardware will not get an answer. This topic has not yet been mentioned by leakers.
Apple Event: It remains exciting until the end
Of course, no one can say with any certainty which products Apple will actually present to us in October. However, due to the high hit rate of the individual leakers, it seems quite likely that we will see at least the iPhone 12 soon. If a virtual event does actually take place on October 13th, there will certainly be some last-minute leaks - there are always some. Either way, we can look forward to some interesting products and exciting weeks in the Apple universe. (Image: Apple)
