An update to the cheaper MacBook series is still pending. Now there are new indications that the entry-level model will be updated soon.
It remains unclear whether Apple will launch a new MacBook Air with a Retina display or an updated 12-inch MacBook. Both model series could use an update. Only recently, rumors emerged about a possible Kaby Lake CPU from Intel for a cheap MacBook.
DigiTimes reports that Apple has commissioned two major manufacturers to produce a MacBook. The sources come from Asian supply chains and are reliable. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman have already reported on a much cheaper MacBook.
The launch is expected in October – the starting price for the affordable MacBook is expected to be $999.
