New patents show the possible future of MacBook keyboards. From simple touch fields to a complete touch keyboard, everything is included.
With the butterfly keyboard and the TouchBar, Apple is setting new standards with MacBooks. This could just be the beginning. Three new patents show the direction Apple could take with MacBooks in the next few years.
The designs reveal various further development stages of the TouchBar. These include special functions such as the keyboard layout being controlled via individual touch fields. There are also descriptions of complete touch keyboards that work with physical feedback, comparable to ForceTouch trackpads. Sensors under the surface should be able to detect the pressure and location of the finger pressure.
Would such a keyboard be suitable for people who write a lot? The fact is that it will be a few years before a MacBook with such a keyboard appears.
