The Unicode Consortium introduced Emoji version 13.0 at the beginning of the year. Around 117 new faces, animals and gestures await us. Now there is new news regarding version 14.0.
As most of you know, new emojis are introduced at the beginning of the year and rolled out at the end of the year. In the case of Emoji Version 14.0, it will be different this time. These were originally supposed to be introduced and released in 2021. But due to the ongoing Corona crisis, there are delays - according to the Unicode Consortium. According to the Unicode Consortium, developers should be given more time to create the popular faces. This means that the Emoji Version 14.0 code will be delayed by around six months. Final availability on devices is therefore not expected before 2022. This is what the blog post:
Because of the lead time developers have to integrate emoji into mobile phones, emoji that are finalized in January won't appear on phones until the following September or so. For example, the emoji that were included in version 13.0 in March 2020 generally won't appear on mobile phones until fall 2020. With the delay in the release of Unicode 14.0, the deadline for submitting new emoji character proposals for Emoji 14.0 is also pushed back to September 2020.
This means that due to the postponement of the deadline for submitting new designs, the emojis in version 14 are unlikely to appear before spring 2022. The blog post emphasized that the Unicode 13.0 remains unaffected and will be released as planned in autumn this year. (Photo by nicotombo / Bigstockphoto)
