The rumors surrounding an iPhone SE successor – the alleged iPhone 9 – have been increasing in recent days. Now the official presentation date, including the market launch, has been confirmed.
The iPhone 9 – also known as iPhone SE 2 – was already expected in March. But the Corona crisis got to Apple first, which is why the whole thing was postponed. However, the schedule is now said to be set. Jon Prosser, a YouTuber and self-proclaimed tech analyst, now claims to have learned that Apple has scheduled the presentation of the iPhone 9 for April 15th. Sales will then begin on April 22nd. But given the Corona crisis, there could of course be another delay, he warns in his tweet.
Will the iPhone 9 Plus be released?
However, his statement fits with some previous reports that Apple has postponed the market launch of a cheap iPhone from March to April. What marketing name the device will receive remains unknown. Due to its shape, observers believe that Apple will present the device as the iPhone 9. In addition to the 4.7-inch model, a 5.5-inch version could also be released, at least that's what an iOS 14 leak has suggested. Whether Prosser will be right remains to be seen.
