The iWorld is currently turned upside down. An iOS 14 preview that has been circulating reveals a lot of new features. According to the latest discovery, Apple is working on a new augmented reality app.
The US blog 9to5mac is currently busy with iOS 14. According to a recent report, Apple is developing a new AR application that can be used in Apple Stores and Starbucks. The new AR app is codenamed "Gobi" and is intended to offer users a new way to explore their surroundings. The report states:
Apple's interest in AR is no secret
Based on the results of the discoveries, Apple appears to be testing integrations with Apple Stores and Starbucks. For example, in an Apple Store, users could hold up their phone and view information about the products on display, check prices, and compare features.
Although it cannot be confirmed at the moment, it is suspected that third-party applications could also access it via an SDK or an API. Apple's interest in augmented reality is an open secret. For this reason, the latest discovery is hardly surprising. But what additional value the app could offer remains to be seen for now. Further details may be revealed.
